Is the MudBuster BPA-free?
Yes — the tumbler and the bristles are both BPA-free, and the whole thing is rated top-rack dishwasher safe.
Where is the MudBuster made?
Dexas designs it in the United States; manufacturing is overseas. The original (US Patent D799,126) has knock-offs floating around — check the embossed Dexas logo on the bottom before buying.
Can you use the MudBuster with dog shampoo?
Yes. For very muddy paws, a small squirt of dog-safe shampoo with the water works well. Don't use human shampoo — the pH is wrong for dogs.
What sizes does the MudBuster come in?
Five: XSmall, Small, Medium, Large, and XL. Medium fits most 35–65 lb dogs (paws 2.5–3.5" across) and is the most popular size by far. If your dog is on the size border, go one size up — a too-tight cup won't clean well.
Does it have silicone bristles?
Yes — soft silicone bristles line the inside of the cup. They flex around the paw rather than scrubbing, which is why dogs tolerate it better than stiff-bristled cleaners like the Arcadia Trail.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes, top-rack only. Pop the lid off, unroll the bristle insert, and run it through. Rinse after each use to keep mud from caking at the bottom.
How much does it cost?
The Medium runs around $13.49 on Amazon as of April 2026; XL hits ~$22. Prices fluctuate — check the live Amazon listing before buying.
What colors are available?
Pro Blue, Fuchsia, Grey, and Light Gray are the standard run. Dexas adds seasonal colors that come and go, so what's in stock today may not be tomorrow.
Is it safe for puppies?
Yes — the soft bristles are gentle enough for puppy paws. Use the XSmall for paws under 2" wide. Supervise the first couple of uses so the puppy gets comfortable with the twist motion.
Is it sold as a multi-pack?
No — single unit only. One MudBuster handles all four paws if you change the water once or twice. People with multiple dogs sometimes buy two so cleanup goes faster.
Does it work for sandy paws?
Yes, sand actually rinses out easier than mud. Add water, insert the paw, twist for 5–10 seconds, dump and refill between paws.
How do you clean the MudBuster itself?
Pop the lid, pull out the silicone bristle insert, and rinse both under the tap. Or stick them in the top rack of the dishwasher. They dry in about an hour.
Is it patented?
Yes — US Patent D799,126. Dexas owns the original tumbler-twist design. Cheaper look-alikes use thinner plastic and stiffer bristles that some dogs refuse.
How much water do you put in?
About 1/4 to 1/3 full — enough to cover the bristle tips. More than that and water sloshes out the top when you twist. Dump and refill every paw or two.
